Analyzing the Rising Tensions in the Middle East

In a seismic shift for Middle Eastern politics, two separate attacks targeted top-tier leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah within hours. Fuad Shukr, Hezbollah's second-in-command, was targeted in Beirut, while Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was reportedly killed during a visit to Tehran.

What is the likelihood of a full-scale war in the region? To what extent does the current shift in US leadership impact Iran's response? And how do these events affect Israel-Saudi Arabia normalization efforts, the Iranian nuclear program and the War in Gaza?

On August 1, Wikistrat CEO Oren Kesler explored these critical questions in a special webinar featuring Middle East experts Dr. Neil Quilliam and Dr. Sina Azodi.

Dr. Neil Quilliam is an Associate Fellow with the MENA Programme at Chatham House.

Dr. Sina Azodi is a lecturer on International Affairs at George Washington University's Institute for Middle East Studies.
